The IRS has increased its focus on the calculation and reporting of partner and shareholder basis, and recent changes to IRS forms reflect this heightened scrutiny. This course provides a detailed analysis of the calculations used to determine tax basis for partnership interests and S corporation shareholder stock and debt basis. Participants will learn how to use information reported on Form 1065, Schedule K-1 and Form 1120-S, Schedule K-1 to accurately determine basis. Illustrated examples and completed forms demonstrate the calculation process and highlight common pitfalls.
