The presence of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in physician offices continues to increase each year just as does their presence in the hospital. Working with both primary care and specialty practices, these non-physician practitioners (NPPs) operate both independently and in coordination with their supervising physicians. In the office, incident to services require a plan of care for the patient while work in the hospital can be done in a more shared capacity. But what if the office is a provider based one? One where the office is considered a facility biller. All these types of billing will be discussed in this conference.
Other discussions will include working with the newer hospital inpatient and observation services codes when shared with physicians, critical care services and what exactly can NPPs do in conjunction with residents and fellows.
